Why did you choose the Oak Glasshouse Company?
I know Jim to speak to in passing from the local gym he and I attend. I also knew he owned an Oak Building company, so I approached Jim and asked him to provide an estimate. We talked about potential design ideas and the benefits of Oak. From our initial conversation, it was clear that Jim understood the remit and made several suggestions to improve the possible design.
What were your reasons for the new building?
The original structure of our home contains a built-in garage, making the living area downstairs smaller than upstairs, which has always been a frustration.
Had you already decided on the type of building?
Yes, however, I had not decided on several of the design elements throughout the build. Jim made several further suggestions, all of which considerably improved the design; as the building progressed, the design evolved; this ranged from minor practical alterations to the layout of the Bi-Fold doors and a concealed door, allowing me to gain access to the garage.
Do you have a favourite feature?
Several features have made a real difference. The alterations to the Bi-Fold doors create an illusion of space, which also applies to our relatively small garden. Our year-round living area effectively doubled, which was the primary purpose of the build; the roof light and large glazed areas allow plenty of natural light.
Your overall impression of The Oak Glasshouse Company?
Communication was excellent throughout the build. Everything was delivered as agreed, and we had no problematic moments or issues at any stage. Jim’s team produced work of the highest conceivable standard while being polite and friendly; I’m delighted with our extension and will undoubtedly recommend the Oak Glasshouse Company to friends.
