Oak Orangery

Another recent installation in Cheltenham Gloucestershire the room itself has fast become a firm favourite for the family, with everything from relaxation to large family meals taking place in their new Orangery.

The Orangery has three sets of doors which serve to open up the room to the elements on all side effectively bringing in the outside. The building also has a south-facing wall that does not impede the buildings natural light but does give some vital shading on the brightest days.

Post-installation, we took the opportunity to speak to the Savery family about their new building.

Why did you choose The Oak Glasshouse Company?

We initially spoke to Jim at the Homebuilding and Renovating Show in Birmingham. We also talked to several other Oak Building companies. However, Jim came across well, and we decided to book a site visit.

What were your reasons for the new building?

After using a gazebo to provide much-needed shade for the majority of the previous summer, we had decided to look for a more permanent solution.

Had you already decided on an Orangery?

Yes, we had already settled on an orangery and had some plans professionally drawn, at the time we felt the plans were not quite what we had wanted, Jim and the Oak Glasshouse team considerably modified these plans.

How are you using the room?

For everything, the Orangery has taken over or is at the very least rivalling our kitchen as the hub of the home. Everything from relaxation through to meals and family gatherings.

What is your overall impression of The Oak Glasshouse Company?

Jim and the team are excellent communicators. Throughout the process they kept us informed of the next steps; any issues were pre-empted and met with solutions before they arose. To stress this point we had virtually no snagging list to speak of

Do you have a favourite feature?

Overall we are happy with the entire building; initially, the South facing wall was set to be entirely glass, this was changed part of the wall is wood this adds another dimension to the building and offers a refuge from the midday sun.
